*3d Printed Lithophanes

$35.00

A lithophane is a 3D printed photo. It doesn’t look like much against a wall, but with a tealight or some LEDs behind it, it looks exactly like a photograph.

REMEMBER: The photograph you upload for this will need to be high quality. And YOU will need to edit the photo to make sure that it is square. A proof will be emailed to you for approval before printing.

All flat, lithophanes will be printed with twine tunnels and a frame around. Rounded lithophanes will be printed with a frame. Keychain sized lithophanes will have a hole on one side for the addition of a ring. All lithophanes will be printed in white.

The nightlight will come with the light part which is shown in the photos. It is a 5 lumen LED light that plugs into your wall, and the lithophane is built in a way that the light is mostly enclosed by the lithophane. This is a dusk til dawn light, meaning that it is only on in the dark.

We do NOT recommend that the keychain sized lithophanes be put on your keys. The variations in the plastic that create the photo make it not suitable for such heavy use. Put it on your rearview mirror instead.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Because this has been asked about a lot, I will address this here: With regards to all of our products that require shrink wrapping, we use a product called Biolefin(tm). This is an oxo-biodegradable film that, when exposed to the elements, breaks down in 18-24 months and leaves no plastic particulate behind (no micro-plastics!) Thank you for caring about the environment!

Note: Sometimes the color in a product will stick to your tub. If this happens, spray it with rubbing alcohol and wipe it off. This mostly applies to bath bombs and bubble bars. Any color that our soap emits is skin safe and will rinse off.

Ingredients

Ingredients: PLA (Polylactic Acid) (from Wikipedia): a thermoplastic polyester with backbone formula (C3H4O2)n or[ C(CH3)HC(=O)O–]n, formally obtained by condensation of lactic acid C(CH
3)(OH)HCOOH with loss of water (hence its name). It can also be prepared by ring-opening polymerization of lactide [–C(CH3)HC(=O)O–]2, the cyclic dimer of the basic repeating unit.

PLA has become a popular material due to it being economically produced from renewable resources. In 2010, PLA had the second highest consumption volume of any bioplastic of the world,[3] although it is still not a commodity polymer. Its widespread application has been hindered by numerous physical and processing shortcomings.[4] PLA is the most widely used plastic filament material in 3D printing.

Although the name “polylactic acid” is widely used, it does not comply with IUPAC standard nomenclature, which is “poly(lactic acid)”.[5] The name “polylactic acid” is potentially ambiguous or confusing, because PLA is not a polyacid (polyelectrolyte), but rather a polyester.[6]
